What is Technology Entrepreneurship?

The Technology Entrepreneurship BSc aims to develop entrepreneurs and business managers with the skills to prosper in a high-technology environment.

It is an innovative and integrated programme that is jointly offered by the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences and the Faculty of Management and Law. The BSc combines practical and relevant expertise from across the University to provide a sound background in technology and IT together with a thorough grounding in business. It offers an integrated mixture of theoretical and practical knowledge as well as the opportunity to hone and enhance your entrepreneurial and business skills.

So, whether you plan to start your own business, run a small or medium sized company or manage a business unit within a large organisation, this innovative programme will equip you to succeed.

What will I study?

The programme will provide you with a clear appreciation of the three integrated areas of technology, IT and business. The theme of entrepreneurship is fundamental to the programme and the term is applied both in the context of new venture creation and the evolution and growth of an established business.

At each level, you will take a range of modules in each area. There are three major projects in the programme. In Level 1 a group project provides you with the opportunity to discover the real world of business by reviewing the operation of a local company. In Level 3 you will develop an outline proposal for a business venture and undertake an individual research project combining the skills and knowledge you have acquired.
